About

Our History

The Alexandria Cardinal Athletic Foundation was established in 1994 as a 501(c)(3) by Cap Paciotti and a group of forward-thinking business and community leaders.  We are an organization committed to serving as a capital fundraising partner to School District #206 so today's student athletes can be equipped to serve as tomorrow's community leaders.

Since our inception, the Cardinal Athletic Foundation has provided nearly $250,000 to support a variety of Cardinal sports and sports-related needs.  Through capital campaigns such as our Friends of the Foundation and the Cap Paciotti Memorial Golf Tournament, we continue to raise needed funds for programs that help our student athletes.  And through programs like the Tom Lehman Scholarship, we share these funds with those who need it.

Our Mission

The Alexandria Cardinal Athletic Foundation exists to positively impact the lives of student athletes by supporting, promoting and enhancing the athletic programs, facilities and equipment of Alexandria Public Schools.  Athletic participation complements the education and development of the whole person - the Cardinal Athletic Foundation is committed to serving as a capital fundraising partner so that today's student athletes can be equipped to serve as tomorrow's community leaders.

The Cardinal Athletic Foundation values its strategic relationship with Alexandria Public Schools, its alumni and the surrounding community. By partnering together, we will strive to provide the resources necessary to allow the comprehensive school sports programs of APS to excel and become a model for other communities to follow.
